ABOUT ME

The Gold Award is the highest award a Girl Scout can earn. Often beginning as a Girl Scout Senior (9th and 10th grade) or a Girl Scout Ambassador (11th or 12th grade), scouts research a problem within their community and work to address the root causes of the problem.

Growing up in L.A. County, I had always observed the homeless crisis and I knew I wanted to address this in some way for my project. Combining my family's value of the military and my desire to help eliminate homelessness, I decided to focus on the homeless veterans population for my Girl Scout Gold Award project, called Operation Homeless Veterans.

While talking to a Veterans Affairs (VA) representative as I researched for my project, I learned that a huge factor for creating homeless veterans stems from a disconnect with the community. Many people don't understand why or how veterans become homeless, or they don't even know this is a problem to begin with! Therefore, I created this informational website to provide veterans with clear access to resources available to them and for civilians to understand the homeless veterans crisis better.

Please share this website with friends and family so they can make a positive change in the community! Remember our veterans and let's help those who served to protect our freedoms!
